Você que achava que este singelo país da Eurásia se resumia apenas a t.A.T.u (alguem ainda se lembra disso?) e ao Ballet Bolshoi, prepare-se para mudar de idéia agora! Jack Riot é a nossa mais nova aposta e, como toda nova e boa artista que se preze, está aí aprendendo, descobrindo, compondo de madrugada e mesclando a energia do Rock com a opulência da música clássica! Confira a entrevista com esta promessa do Rock Russo e guarde o nome dessa banda que ainda se tornará um sucesso em outros países...

FRS: Conte um pouco sobre sua carreira musical e como você descreve sua arte.

Jack Riot: Meu futuro foi decidido quando fui levada para a escola de música aos 5 ou 6 anos. Depois disso, nunca parei de fazer qualquer tipo de música. Eu estava tocando em uma banda de punk-rock, passei muitos anos em uma banda industrial. Mas só agora com o meu projeto atual, eu estou contente. Aqui posso me expressar e fazer isso de forma profissional.
É um pouco difícil falar sobre minha arte. Porque eu tenho apenas os meus próprios olhos - eu não posso vê-la de outros ângulos. Minha arte é bastante romântica, com certeza. Mas com muita agitação do jeito rock'n'roll antigo. Então, é como "Eu quero chorar por causa do meu coração partido, mas, ao invés, devo dirigir o meu carro em alta velocidade para senti-lo mais profundamente". Essa é a minha arte musical.

 FRS: Como é o seu processo de composição?

Jack Riot: Somente inspiração. Ainda não sei se é o meu talento ou meu distúrbio mental. Isso só acontece à noite. Em algum ponto as 4-5 da manhã. Eu começo a ouvir a música na minha cabeça. E as letras aparecem na minha mente. Minha tarefa é gravá-la corretamente. Dessa forma, leva 5 minutos no máximo para completar a canção. No dia seguinte, eu só trabalho nos detalhes.

FRS: Você teve uma ligação com a música clássica, mas decidiu seguir com carreira no Rock. Como você compreende o Rock? E em que medida a música clássica influência sua forma de fazer o Rock?

Jack Riot: Eu não entendo o rock. Só posso senti-lo. Agora vejo que a diferença entre o rock e o clássico não é tão grande como eu pensava antes. E novamente começo a tocar instrumentos clássicos. Eu acho que eu escolhio rock porque essa era a minha revolta adolescente contra os sistemas e as regras que eu seguia antes, e rock era algo que não conhecia antes. Agora eu misturo esses dois gêneros de uma forma livre.



FRS: Como é a cena musical na Rússia? Quais outros artistas você nos recomendaria?

Jack Riot: Bem, na verdade eu não gosto da maior parte da música russa. Existem algumas bandas realmente boas. Lunchbox - é uma banda de meu guitarrista. Eles tocam alternativo/nu-metal, mas eu gosto deles. “Billy's band" (Tom Waits russo, como eu os chamo), "Биопсихоз" (Biopsihoz) - projeto de industrial muito legal. No meu tempo livre eu escuto qualquer coisa, menos rock. Eu tenho que relaxar e deixar minha mente e coração livres e puros.

FRS: Quais são suas principais influências musicais?

Jack Riot: Tudo começou com Rammstein, a primeira banda de rock que escutei. Bem, eu tenho enorme influência do Japão e do rock japonês. A visão deles é bem diferente de todas as músicas Européias. Eu aprendi muita coisa nova. Quando escutei alguns de seus melhores cantores eu comecei a trabalhar mais. Aprendi a cantar muito melhor depois de ouvi-los.

FRS: A associação da música com elementos visuais é um dos diferenciais da sua arte? Fale-nos um pouco sobre essa questão dos elementos visuais.

Jack Riot: Elementos visuais são importantes no mesmo nível que a música. Já que o desempenho ao vivo é um show, antes de tudo. Toda vez, eu tento trabalhar mais e mais. Quero agitar meus fãs durante o show. Mas o problema é que na Rússia pouquíssimas pessoas pensam sobre isso. Não é tradicional aqui. A maioria dos músicos não entendem. E também é muito difícil fazer um show na maioria dos auditórios. Eu desejo poder mudar isso.

FRS: Nas redes sociais é possível notar que a banda conseguiu público de diferentes países. Isso surpreendeu? Você pensa em tentar fazer carreira em outro país, buscando maiores possibilidades musicais?

Jack Riot: Sim, sempre penso sobre isso. Surpreendeu-me na primeira vez. Mas não agora. Eu canto em Inglês. Eu componho em um estilo mais ocidental. Então está tudo bem. Quero compartilhar a mim mesma com pessoas de todo o mundo. Então estou feliz.

FRS: Jack tocou com a banda japonesa VELVET EDEN. Você gostou da experiência? Poderia haver parcerias com outras bandas russas ou estrangeiras?

Jack Riot: Oh, Velvet Eden! Essa foi a minha experiência mais brilhante. Eu aprendi um monte de coisas. Quero dizer, não só sobre técnica de guitarra, mas a compreender este mundo. Eles me mostraram algo que eu não tinha notado antes. Sou muito grata a eles.
Eu sempre quero experimentar algo novo. Especialmente na música. Mas é muito difícil trabalhar comigo. Por causa do meu estilo de vida (eu não descanso antes de atingir o objetivo), caráter terrível e uma obsessão de liderança em sempre tentar fazer o meu melhor.
Agora eu começo a trabalhar com alguns artistas indie na Rússia. E realmente gosto deles. Em um futuro próximo, eu quero fazer um dueto com alguém. Eu acho que é uma experiência incrível.

FRS: Quais são os projetos da banda para o ano de 2012?

Jack Riot: Nessas 2 semanas eu termino a gravação do álbum de estréia. E pretendo lançá-lo nos EUA. Depois disso eu farei um show de apoio em Moscou. Talvez uma pequena tour. Espero que sim. Também nesta primavera nós faremos um vídeo para uma canção nova. Depois que cuidar disso, vou trabalhar em um novo material, acho. É difícil planejar tudo. Agora meu objetivo é um álbum e shows de apoio. Concentro-me apenas nisso agora. Quem sabe? Talvez então eu deixe a Rússia para Seul para me tornar um ídolo lá. Quem sabe? Em 2012 eu pretendo acrescentar a mim mesma como possível.

Directly from the frozen land of Russia, another band for you knowing! Yes, Russia! You thought that this simple country of Eurasia was limited only to  t.A.T.u. (Does anyone remember that yet?) and the Bolshoi Ballet, get ready to change your mind now! Jack Riot is our newest betting and, like all good and new self-respecting artist, they're learning, discovering, composing at dawn and blending the energy of rock with the opulence of classical music! Check out the interview with this promise of Russian Rock and keep the name of this band that will become a success in other countries...

FRS: Tell us a little about your musical career and how you describe your art.

Jack Riot: My future was decided when I was brought to the music school in the age of 5 or 6. After it I had never stop doing any music. I was playing in punk-rock band, several years I spend in industrial band. But only now with my current project I’m glad. Here I can express myself and do it in professional way.

Its little bit hard to talk about my art. Because I have only my own eyes - I can't see it from aside. My art is enough romantic, sure. But with a lot of drive of old rock'n'roll way. So, it’s like "I wanna cry because of my broken heart but I rather should drive my car on a high speed to feel it deeper". That’s my musical art.

FRS: How is your process of making music?

Jack Riot: Only inspiration. Still I don't know if it’s my talent or my mental disorder. It happens only at night. Somewhere at 4-5 a.m. I start to hear the music in my head. And the lyrics appear in my mind. My task is to record it correct. Like that, it takes 5 minutes as maximum to complete the song. The next day I only work for details.

FRS: You had a connection with classical music, but decided to follow your career in Rock music. How do you understand the Rock? And to what certain extent classical music influences your way of making the Rock?

Jack Riot: I don't understand rock. I can only feel it. Now I see that the difference between rock and classic is not so huge as I thought before. And I start again playing classic instruments. I guess I choose rock because that was my teenage riot against the systems and rules I was following before and rock was something that I didn't know before. Now I mix these two genres in a free way.

FRS: How is the music scene in Russia? What other artists would you recommend us?

Jack Riot: Well, actually I don't like most of Russian music. There are some really good bands. Lunchbox - it’s a band of  my bass guitarist. They play alternative/nu-metal but I like them. "Billy's band" (russian Tom Waits as I call them), "Биопсихоз" (Biopsihoz) -  very cool industrial project. At my freetime I listen to anything but not rock. I have to relax and set my mind and heart free and pure.

FRS: What are your main musical influences?

Jack Riot: It started with Rammstein, the 1st rock band I listened to. Well, I got huge influence from Japan and Japanese rock stage. Their vision is quite different from all the European music. I learned a lot of new. When I listened to some of their best singers I started to work more. I learned to sing much better after listening to them.

FRS: Is the association of music with visual elements is a differential of your art? Tell us a little about the issue of visual elements.

Jack Riot: Visual elements are important on the same level as music. Because live performance is a show first of all. Every time I try to work more and more. I wanna shake my fans during the gig. But the problem is that in Russia a very few people think about it. It’s not traditional here. Most musicians don't understand it. And also most of concert halls are very difficult to make a show within them. I wish I can change it.

FRS: In social networks you can see that the band has got a number of fans in different countries. Did this surprise you? Do you think about a career in another country, seeking more musical possibilities?

Jack Riot: Yes, I always think about it. It surprised me for the first time. But not now. I sing in english. I compose in more western style. So it’s ok. I want to share myself with people all over the world. Then I'm glad.

FRS: Jack played with the Japanese band VELVET EDEN. Did you enjoy the experience? Could there be partnerships with other Russian and foreign bands?

Jack Riot: Oh, Velvet Eden! That was my brightest experience ever. I learned a lot of things. I mean not only about guitar technique but understanding this world. They showed me something I hadn't notice before.  I'm very thankful to them.

I always want to taste something new. Especially in music. But It’s very hard to work with me. Because of my lifestyle (I do no rest before reaching the aim), awful character and obsession of leadership in always trying to do my best. Now I start to work with some other indie artists in Russia. And I really enjoy it. In nearest future I want to make a duet with somebody. I think it’s amazing experience.

FRS: What are the projects of the band for the year 2012?

Jack Riot: In these 2 weeks I finish the record for out debut album. And I plan to release it in USA. After it I make a support show in Moscow. Maybe a little tour. I hope so. Also this spring we make a video for a new song. After I deal with this, I will work for new material, I guess. It’s hard to plan everything. Now my aim is an album and support gigs. I concentrate only on this right now. Who know? Maybe then I leave Russia for Seoul to become an idol there. Who knows? In 2012 I plan to implement myself as it’s possible.
